Become a mentor at the 46th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing!

Are you an Experienced Professional in remote sensing (see eligibility criteria below) looking to give back to the community? Do you want to inspire and guide the next generation of remote sensing professionals? For the duration of the 46th Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing (CSRS) in Lethbridge, Alberta we are launching a one-off opportunity: A volunteer- based pilot mentorship initiative, and we are looking for dedicated mentors like you!

  • Help shape the future of remote sensing by guiding Students and Young Professionals
  • Expand your professional network and gain fresh perspectives
  • Support mentees in navigating career development (in e.g. industry, government, and academia), work-life balance, etc.

How it works:

  • Eligibility guideline: For the purpose of this pilot mentorship initiative during the symposium, Experienced Professionals are defined as those who hold a master’s degree or higher and have ≥ 10 years of remote-sensing related career experience since earning their degree. Other credentials can be equally meritorious as indicators of career experience. Please use this guideline at your own discretion.
  • The pilot mentorship initiative will run during the symposium in the form of individual group mentorship sessions (one mentor for ~ two to four mentees) to ensure that all mentees benefit from expert guidance. One-on-one meetups will be offered if enough mentors are available for the registered mentees.
  • Sign up to be a mentor when registering for the symposium. Select the option “Are you interested in learning about and participating in our pilot mentorship initiative either as a mentor or mentee”.
  • Fill out the short questionnaire (sent to you by email) to get matched with your mentees based on your interests/experiences.
  • Get matched with Students and Young Professionals based on shared interests/experiences.
  • Meet your mentor-mentee group during the symposium for an engaging and impactful discussion (meetings will be scheduled directly between the mentor and mentees).
  • The number of meetings during the conference depend on the availability of the mentor/mentees
