Making the CRSS-SCT a True Community

When the CRSS-SCT was created in 1974, under the leadership of Dr. Larry Morley OC, it was entering new territory. It was the world’s first national society in remote sensing (The ASPRS did not add the “RS” until some years later). The vision he had for the society was mirrored in the government’s advisory structures and how the original Canada Centre for Remote Sensing (CCRS) was organized. This should not come as a surprise because he was the driving force behind the creation of CCRS, the national advisory structure (the Canadian Advisory Committee on Remote Sensing – CACRS) and the CRSS-SCT.
