Dr. Shabnam Jabari is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), where she also leads the Advanced Spatial Information Lab (ASIL). She holds an adjunct appointment in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary.<\/p>\n

Dr. Jabari earned her PhD from UNB in 2015, where her research on 3D information-supported urban change detection using multi-angle and multi-sensor imagery led to a patented technology. She also holds an MSc and BSc in Civil-Surveying Engineering, awarded in 2009 and 2005, respectively.<\/p>\n

Her research lies at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Urban Digital Twins, and multi-modal geospatial mapping, with a strong focus on urban change detection. She is particularly passionate about leveraging AI and geospatial data to support climate change adaptation, including urban infrastructure damage assessment and flood mapping. Dr. Jabari has supervised over 30 graduate students and postdoctoral researchers and has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications.<\/p>\n

Currently leading the CRSS-SCT as President, she has served the society as an Associate Editor for the Canadian Journal of Remote Sensing and as Vice President, Secretary, and Chair of Working Group 3 of the Canadian Remote Sensing Society (CRSS-SCT) in the past. She chaired the Technical Program Committee for the 2024 Canadian Symposium on Remote Sensing in Halifax and is currently serving in the same role for the upcoming ISPRS Congress joint event in Toronto (2026).<\/p>\n

A Professional Engineer registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick, Dr. Jabari is also a Senior Member of IEEE and a Counselor in the International Society for Digital Earth. She also has served as the Vice President of Canadian Institute of Geomatics.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

Derek Lichti received his bachelor\u2019s degree in Survey Engineering from Toronto Metropolitan University, in 1993 and MSc and PhD degrees in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary in 1996 and 1999, respectively. He worked as an academic at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, from 1999 to 2007. He is currently Professor in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary, which he joined in 2008, and served as Head of the Department from 2013 to 2018. He holds Adjunct Professor positions at the University of New Brunswick and at Curtin University.<\/p>\n

He joined the CRSS-SCT executive in 2020 and currently serves as Vice President. He is also Congress Director, responsible for organization of the 2026 International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) Congress in Toronto, and a member of the ISPRS Council. Between 2013 and 2020, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.<\/p>\n

His research program focuses on imaging metrology, which is concerned with precision 3D reality capture from imaging sensors, principally terrestrial laser scanners and digital cameras. It touches a wide range of applications in support of his goal to enable non-experts to use geomatics technologies to solve real-world problems that require accurate 3D spatial models. Some of his research projects include documentation of at-risk cultural heritage sites, as-built modelling of electrical substations and industrial sites, wear and damage assessment in structures and industrial machinery and dimensional control.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n

Dr. Ahmed Shaker is a Full Professor of Geomatics Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering, Toronto Metropolitan University. Dr. Shaker has international work experience in Canada, Spain, Hong Kong, Egypt, and Kuwait. His research interests cover the fields of LiDAR data processing, sensor integration, satellite sensor modelling, image segmentation, and 3-D modeling. Dr. Shaker has authored more than 150 publications in international journals and conferences.<\/p>\n

Dr. Shaker is the recipient of numerous national and international awards, including the\u00a0Marie Curie Incoming International Fellowship (2006)<\/strong>, the\u00a0Faculty Scholarly, Research and Creative Activity Award (2011)<\/strong>, the\u00a0Bronze Medal Award from the Canadian Remote Sensing Society (2011)<\/strong>, and the\u00a0Dean\u2019s Teaching Award (2015)<\/strong>. His students have received more than 20 best paper, poster, and presentation awards in various national and international events in recent years.<\/p>\n
